Kale Chips!

20 Mar

What’s that you say? A healthy munchie that crisps like a chip but practically melts in your mouth as pure deliciousness? Why yes. I introduce to you, KALE CHIPS!  These crunchy munchies should be put on your appetizer or snack list. Kale is rich with important nutrients, and by baking it, you get a totally different flavor than when sautéd or steamed.  Kale chips are easy and quick to make… be adventurous and try them with different spices! Chili powder and lime, ginger and curry…  —Alex

  • one bunch kale (I prefer a green, crinkle leaf variety, but any will do)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or to coat)
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

  1. heat the oven to 250 F
  2. cut the entire leafy part of the kale off of each stem (the stem goes up the whole leaf). Discard stems, and rip remaining leaves into pieces about 2″ sq. (or as desired).
  3. place leaf pieces in a bowl and toss with olive oil, using  your hands to coat the leaves as best as you can (olive oil is great for your hands too!)
  4. lay olive oil coated leaves out onto a baking sheet so there isn’t much overlap (some is ok).
  5. sprinkle with salt and pepper (or whatever other spices you chose)
  6. place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, they should be very crisp but not burnt!
  7. remove, let cool, and enjoy!!!
